Dr. Kalyan Kanneganti, M.D.

Dr. Kalyan Kanneganti joined our team of GI physicians at Digestive Diseases Center of South Texas in 2015.

Dr. Kanneganti received his medical degree from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, AP, India. Dr. Kanneganti completed his internship and residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, a teaching affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He served as a Chief resident and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, a teaching affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. After graduating and becoming board certified, Dr. Kanneganti continued to work as faculty in the GI fellowship and Internal Medicine residency program in New York.

As faculty at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Dr. Kanneganti lectured and mentored numerous medical students, residents, and fellows. During his fellowship and as faculty, Dr. Kanneganti has published extensively and presented at various national and international meetings. He has published several articles and abstracts as first author in peer reviewed journals including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, the Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology and the World Journal of Hepatology. His presentations have included multiple poster presentations at American College of Gastroenterology and Digestive Diseases Week meetings.

He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy.

Dr. Kanneganti is skilled in all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology, and has a special interest in the management of urgent GI bleeding, GERD, complex liver diseases, viral hepatitis, and fatty liver. He also has a special interest in colonoscopy for colon cancer screening.

Dr. Kanneganti and his wife Swapna are proud parents of two beautiful girls. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family and likes playing tennis, cricket, and traveling.

With his extensive training and experience, Dr. Kanneganti eagerly looks forward to taking care of his patients at the Digestive Diseases Center of South Texas at our Baptist Mission Trail office.
