Dr. Deepika Koya, M.D.

Dr. L. Deepika Koya is Board Certified by ABIM in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Koya completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Abington Memorial Hospital, Pennsylvania in 2004. She then worked as a clinical faculty in the division of General Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina for 3 years. During this period she completed masters in clinical research and obtained a Masters of Science in clinical research degree. Subsequently she completed her Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship training in 2010 at the University of South Florida (USF). She continued at USF as an Assistant Professor in the department of digestive diseases & nutrition until December 2011. She has been in private practice in Lewisville for the last four years and joined TDDC on April 1st 2016.

Dr. Koya has published several articles as primary author in multiple medical journals including American Journal of public health, American journal of Medicine, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Diseases of the Esophagus and Practical Gastroenterology. She has presented at various national meetings including the American College of Gastroenterology, DDW and General Internal Medicine meeting.

Dr. Koya is a member of the American College of gastroenterology, Texas Medical Association and Denton County Medical Society.

Dr. Koya's primary clinical interests include colon cancer prevention, Women's Health, Liver diseases including Hepatitis C, Irritable bowel syndrome, Inflammatory bowel disease and has a special interest in quality assessment in endoscopy.

She performs a wide variety of procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, wireless capsule endoscopy, esophageal manometry, CRH hemorroidal band ligation procedure and also performs advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP.

Dr. Koya sees patients at the out patient office in 500 North Valley Parkway, Lewisville TX and performs endoscopy at the Lone star Ambulatory surgery center in Flower mound and at the Medical Center of Lewisville.

Dr. Koya, her husband and their three children moved to Dallas in 2012 to live close to their family & friends. She enjoys doing yoga, spending time with her family and traveling.
